Sex Addiction

Sex addiction is characterized by a way some people medicate their feelings and/or cope with their stresses to the level that their sexual conduct becomes their major coping mechanism for stresses in their life. The person often is not able to stop this sexual behavior of his or her for any great length of time by themselves. The sex addiction patients may experience a spree of sexual behaviors or they spend a lot of time in the pursuit of his or her sexual behavior/fantasy.

For every sex addict this is different but generally speaking there are spiritual, psychological, and biological reasons. Presented in the following is a short explanation of each reason why someone can become a sex addict.

The biological sex addict is someone who has habituated their body to accept brain chemicals such as enkephlines and endorphins primarily through reinforcing a fantasy state with the ejaculation that provides these chemicals to their brain.

Psychologically, the need to medicate sexual, emotional, or physical abuse can require a substance, the early sex addict finds the sex medicine typically before alcohol or drugs.

Sex addiction sometimes becomes spirituality of sex addicts.

Then there is the sex addict patient who can be two or even three of the above reasons. Sex addiction can be best treated by consulting a specialist in sex addiction.

Recovery:

Sex addiction recovery takes hard work and time, particularly in the first year. With guided help the sex addict patient can experience reinstatement in their financial, relational, emotional, and even spiritual lives.
